Some time ago, one of our English readers emailed to ask if I would consider posting a discussion thread on the fact that there are a lot of Masses in the Polish language in parishes across the UK:  this irks him, somewhat, because it seems to contradict the Vatican II concept of Mass in the vernacular, meaning the language of each country.  If there are to be Masses in Polish everywhere, where Polish is not the everyday language of a nation, why not other languages as well?  Should there be Masses in French, in German, in Gaelic – you’ll get the idea.  OR should those who move to the UK to live and work, simply “do what the Romans do” (so to speak) and attend Mass in the vernacular here – which is English?  Is it right to “exclude” those who do not speak Polish?

Being a regular attendee at the traditional Latin Mass, this is not an issue which affects me personally in any way, although I can see the contradictions inherent in the arguments for abandoning the Church’s official language (Latin) in order to make Mass available in the vernacular, only to find that parishes are providing Masses for the Polish community – in Polish.  IS there a contradiction? If so, does it matter?

It’s difficult to keep up with the sheer madness around us… there are actually people who think face-masks, goggles and face-shields are “cool”, a fashion MUST-have.  Gimme strength!

Is it a generational thing?  Are the youngsters in the above video perfectly sane and it’s just the golden oldies who don’t “get it”?  Or has the world really and truly gone mad? At least, the World of Anthony Fauci?

And tell me – please! – that this latest insanity won’t arrive in the UK. It’s hard enough trying to keep  a straight face walking past hordes of people wearing face masks… but goggles?  And goggles, plus face-masks plus face-shields?   Beyond belief.  Will people actually do this?

I think it’s well past time for some brave priest to make a statement to the effect that there IS a God who cares about us and protects us – a God who knows when a little sparrow falls from a tree to the ground, and who has counted the very hairs on our heads…

Quite openly now, some Americans appear to be of the opinion that they hate Trump more than they love a peaceful, ordered, law-abiding lifestyle.  Ridiculous calls to defund the police and abolish prisons underline this lunacy.  There’s clearly – it seems to me – a demonic input here.

However, shouldn’t we be sitting up and paying attention in the UK? One doctor interviewed on TV this morning, divulged the fact that those in the health advisory business awaited with bated breath to see just how compliant the people of the UK would be under lockdown and continuing restrictions.  They were, apparently, amazed.  Little wonder, as the majority were, indeed, compliant.  All talk about “blind faith” and “unquestioning obedience” – once applied sarcastically to religious people, specifically Catholics – were now applicable to… well…  just about the entire population.

With talk now of a second (and more) wave of the virus, with the possibility of more lockdowns, whether local or national, that blind faith just might, who knows, give way to a lot of questioning and, albeit belated, fact-finding, which may lead to civil unrest across the four nations…

But here’s a thought: both the SNP Government in Scotland and the Westminster Government in England were very sympathetic to the thousands who turned out to support the Black Lives Matter protests – where neither social distancing nor face-mask rules were enforced; with the police generally turning a blind eye to all that “keep safe” stuff.  So, what do you think – might we find ourselves in an equally lawless situation, as lockdown frustrations boil over, not least when people begin to feel the financial pinch, and perhaps find themselves unemployed?  We all sincerely hope not, I am sure, but is it a possibility?  And if so, who will the politicians (and the clergy)  support – the police or the protesters?

One of the most shocking aspects of the Covid-19 lockdown, with its serious restrictions on personal freedoms, both civil and religious, is the way in which the Church has co-operated – from the Pope down. No questions asked, simply uncritical obedience, of the kind not even expected of religious men and women in monasteries.  The language of docility is writ large on Catholic diocesan, and even traditional, websites.

Priests are embracing the Government restrictions, even as we are “permitted” to return to Mass.   Thus we see limits on the numbers allowed to attend, the use of hand sanitizers, etc.

The traditional Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP) – certainly in Edinburgh – is going along, hook, line and sinker, with Government policy: everyone but the priest  has to wear a face mask, Mass will be shorter, people must book for Mass because only 40 permitted etc.  Click 西风vpn好用下载to read the entire scandalous nonsense.  Informed Catholics are increasingly scandalised at the co-operation (for which read “complicity) of Churchmen in this fabricated crisis…

My dear brethren, There is a collective sense that the world is on the cusp of dramatic change. Already, the Covid-19 crisis and recent civil unrest in  many countries – both bearing hallmarks of sinister orchestration – have been the occasion of mass social conditioning and a dramatic encroachment upon religious and civil rights.

Regrettably, it seems that more of the same is to follow. The mainstream media are creating expectation with expressions like “the new normal”, economic meltdown is imminent, and the World Economic Forum – an organisation for the minions of the New World Order – have launched an initiative called “The Great Reset” which seems to augur the imposition of more direct individual control, ecologism, and the culture of death upon the entire planet.

Our hope should not fail, however, for the evil that is visiting upon us is the occasion of great heroism on the part of those who stand firm in the Catholic faith… End of Extract – read entire Editorial here

Thus, with such clear thinking on the political – and evil – nature of the Covid-19 “crisis”, it is incomprehensible to Catholics aware of the very real crisis in the Church, that the SSPX should appear to accept, at any level, Government restrictions on our religious freedom, choosing to blame the diocesan Bishops for the closure of churches and continuing restrictions on the practice of the Faith.   We need to see concrete evidence of the “great heroism” of which Fr Brucciani speaks.  Don’t we all need to risk falling foul of the Government by refusing to keep the rules which are leading us into the “new normal”?   Or would that be to lack the virtue of prudence?   I wonder what St Thomas More would advise?

The SSPX does not have to obey the local Bishops on this, that’s for sure. They can’t blame the Bishops.  So, the question remains, why do they? And why is there no dissent among the best of the diocesan clergy – I heard from another reader that the “traditional” parish in the north of Glasgow, is permitting only 50 people to attend Sunday Masses.

With talk of a second wave (to be followed by a third and fourth wave…) there is clearly not going to be any end to this fake crisis.  Somebody in the Church is going to have to make the first move and say “We will not serve!”    Why can’t it be the Society of St Pius X, established precisely because its Founder could not, in conscience, accept the new normal concocted at Vatican II: “And if you wish to know the real reason for my persistence, it is this. At the hour of my death, when Our Lord asks me: ‘What have you done with your episcopate, what have your done with your episcopal and priestly grace’ I do not want to hear from His lips the terrible words ‘You have helped to destroy the Church along with the rest of them.’ (Archbishop Lefebvre: Open Letter to Confused Catholics, p.163).

Priests for Life national director Fr. Frank Pavone has resigned from advisory positions in the reelection campaign of President Donald Trump. The priest withdrew at the direction of Church authorities, he told CNA Friday.

“I’ve been requested by the competent ecclesiastical authority not to have an official title/position on the advisory boards. So, as a priest in good standing, I’ve followed that request,” Pavone told CNA July 24, in response to questions about his role in the Trump campaign.

In January, Pavone was appointed co-chair of the Pro-Life Voices for Trump coalition, and in April was announced as a member of the Catholics for Trump advisory board; the priest headlined that month an online kickoff event for the Trump Catholic group. Both groups are organized as part of the Trump campaign. Pavone was also a co-chair of the Trump pro-life coalition in 2016.

Pavone’s role in a political campaign was unusual for a priest. Members of the clergy require permission to “have an active part in political parties,” according to the Church’s canon law.

In April, Pavone told CNA that he did not believe himself to need permission for campaign involvement because he considered Trump’s reelection to be a matter of urgency. “I’m not going to ask anybody’s permission to go scream that the house is on fire,” he said at the time.

Pavone did not indicate what authorities had directed him to resign from the Trump campaign. In 2005 Pavone was incardinated in the Diocese of Amarillo, Texas, when he transferred to that diocese from the Archdiocese of New York with plans to begin a pro-life religious order of priests. Those plans did not materialize, and Pavone found himself at odds with Bishop Patrick Zurek, soon after the bishop was installed in 2008.

In 2011, the dispute between Pavone and Zurek became public, after the priest was recalled to the diocese and suspended by the bishop. Pavone appealed to the Vatican, and the suspension was eventually lifted in 2012.

In April, the priest told CNA that his relationship with Zurek remained rocky, describing communication with his bishop as “dysfunctional,” and saying that he was in the process of transferring to a new diocese.

The Diocese of Amarillo has not responded to repeated requests from CNA for clarity about Pavone’s political activity or ecclesiastical status, including requests to clarify whether he has faculties to minister publicly as a priest.

Pavone told CNA Friday that he remains incardinated in the Amarillo diocese, “but my transfer has been canonically completed to a different bishop who has good will toward me and my work.” He declined to name that diocese, saying that “the announcement of what diocese I’m in now is up to the same ecclesiastical authority to make.”

While Pavone is no longer part of the Catholics for Trump coalition, the group drew attention on Friday when it announced that author and YouTube commenter Taylor Marshall would join the Catholics for Trump advisory board.

Pavone’s role in the 2016 Trump campaign sparked considerable controversy in the Church. Ahead of the election the priest filmed a video at the Priests for Life headquarters, urging support for Trump. The video was filmed with the body of an aborted baby laid before Pavone on what appeared to be an altar.

While the diocese has not announced the results of that investigation, Pavone claims that he has been “cleared of the past complaints/investigations/disciplinary actions by the bishop of Amarillo. That chapter is closed.”

Pavone said that while he will no longer occupy a position in the Trump campaign “nothing has changed in my advocacy for the president, given that the Democrats do indeed pose a grave threat to ‘the rights of the Church’ and ‘the common good,’ a point I’ll be making constantly between now and November 3.”

“Any cleric who doesn’t see that point has his head in the sand or in a Democrat echo chamber,” the priest added.

Pavone is not the only priest in recent U.S. history to make headlines for involvement in an election.

In 2008, Chicago priest Fr. Michael Pfleger drew attention for appearing as part of a “People of Faith for Obama” coalition during then-Senator Barack Obama’s primary battle against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

Pfleger’s bishop, Cardinal Francis George, said at the time that “while a priest must speak to political issues that are also moral, he may not endorse candidates nor engage in partisan campaigning.”      西风vpn好用下载

COUNTY MAYO, Ireland April 7, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — A Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Tuam, Ireland, invited local Muslims to offer an Islamic prayer during a Mass last Friday that was live-streamed by the parish and broadcast over local radio.

While the prayer was reportedly offered for an end to the coronavirus, Catholic sources have since confirmed that what was sung was, in fact, the “Adhan,” the Islamic “Call to Prayer” that asserts Islam’s supremacy over Christianity.

Father Stephen Farragher, parish priest of St. Patrick’s Church in Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, noted that “Friday is to the Muslim community what Sunday is to Christians” before inviting local Muslims Mohammed Cherbatji and Mohammed Rahmani to offer a prayer of “blessing” for an end to the pandemic and for all frontline healthcare workers.   Click 西风vpn好用下载 to read entire report…

The group “Keep Britain Free” organised the above protest.  Check them out here

I can’t recall KBF being mentioned in any TV news report – can you?

Certainly, no-one can disagree with the concluding observation in their very good short video at the above link.  To slightly paraphrase … They have taken our liberties… Taking them back depends on you!

But how easy is that going to be?  In TV news reports this morning marking the mandatory wearing of face masks in shops in England today (already mandatory in Scotland), there was an admission that Covid-19 has changed our way of life, and now we have to wear masks and keep the other restrictions “indefinitely”.   “Indefinitely”?  Really?

As the news reports and video clips on YouTube drive home, the majority of people across the UK are continuing to accept the “new normal”, quite happily going along with every infringement on our personal freedoms, manifestly ignorant of the facts about everything from social distancing to face-coverings.  Keep Britain Free seems to be the only group providing a pushback.  Should we support them?

In order to receive social welfare payments, citizens in several Chinese towns have to replace religious symbols with images of Chinese Communist Party leaders.

BEIJING, China, July 21, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Several towns in China are using their citizens’ status as social welfare recipients as a pretext to prohibit them from having Christian symbols in their homes. Anybody refusing to comply with the local government, and thus the governing Chinese Communist Party, would no longer be financially supported by the state.

“The government is trying to eliminate our belief and wants to become God instead of Jesus,” one Christian preacher told Bitter Winter, a magazine dedicated to reporting on human rights and religious freedom in China.

City officials were ordered “to remove crosses, religious symbols and images from the homes of people of faith who receive social welfare payments and replace them with portraits of Chairman Mao and President Xi Jinping,” wrote Bitter Winter.

One member of a Christian church recounted how city officials raided his house, tearing down all religious symbols and replacing them with a portrait of Chinese communist founding father Mao Zedong. “Impoverished religious households can’t receive money from the state for nothing—they must obey the Communist Party for the money they receive,” the person explained.

According to Bitter Winter, “The policy is being implemented in other localities across China.” In one locality, officials canceled “a disabled Christian’s minimum living subsidy and a monthly disability allowance of [roughly $14].”

His wife commented, “Officials told me that we would be treated as anti-Party elements if my husband and I continued attending worship services.”

“A Christian from Weihui city in the central province of Henan has been taking care of her two sons by herself after her husband died unexpectedly more than ten years ago,” Bitter Winter wrote. “She started receiving a minimum living allowance from the state in 2016. In early April, a village official ordered the woman to sign a statement renouncing her faith and destroy all Christian symbols in her house. Since she refused, her allowance was canceled.”

China is well-known for persecuting Christians, as well as other religious and ethnic minorities. In June, the U.S. State Department’s International Religious Freedom Report for 2019 dedicated 115 pages to China alone.

As the report points out, the Chinese constitution guarantees “freedom of religious belief but limits protections for religious practice to ‘normal religious activities’ and does not define ‘normal.’”

The report’s section on China lists countless examples of Catholics and other Christians being attacked for their faith by the government.

Father Paul Zhang, for example, was taken into custody after he “had refused to join the government-run [Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association]. According to AsiaNews, authorities stopped Zhang’s car, smashed the window, and beat him before taking him away. Another man in the car was also beaten but not taken into custody. Fifteen days prior to this event, police had raided a house in which Zhang was leading Mass. His whereabouts were unknown at year’s end.”

One year ago in July, “the Central Institute of Socialism in Fujian Province organized a course on the work of the Catholic Church in the province.”

Several dozen priests who are members of the state-run imitation of the Catholic Church participated. “The lessons and activities centered on the theme of ‘guiding the Catholic Church to follow a path conforming to socialist society.’ AsiaNews noted the course seemed to focus almost entirely on political doctrine with very little mention of Christian teachings.”

The report also mentioned Cardinal Joseph Zen, the former bishop of Hong Kong, and his criticism of the secret deal between the Vatican and the communist Chinese government.

“Similar to the previous year, neither side provided details of the provisional agreement, such as how the Holy See and the government would make decisions regarding appointment of bishops,” the report pointed out.

Paradoxically, Chinese bishop Vincenzo Guo Xijin, “an underground bishop recognized by the Holy See, remained in a subordinate position under Bishop Zhan Silu, who was originally ordained without Holy See approval. The Holy See had previously excommunicated Zhan, a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, but in December 2018 allowed him to replace Guo as bishop of the Mindong Diocese in Fujian Province.”

“Zhan was one of the seven individuals whom the Holy See recognized as bishops under the 2018 provisional agreement,” the report added. “Police had detained Guo, who had been appointed by the Holy See, earlier in 2018 for his refusal to jointly lead Easter services with Zhan, who at the time was not recognized by the Holy See.”

Zen recently commented on the fact that Pope Francis, on July 5, chose not to speak out regarding the tensions between China and Hong Kong, even though the prepared remarks given to journalists beforehand contained a passage on that very issue.

“I have seen the text, which is very mild, in no way offensive to the Chinese government,” the cardinal pointed out. “Some say maybe the Holy Father thought it was better not to say [something], or some say he may have received some word from the Chinese Embassy in Italy.”

“It’s not an isolated episode,” he clarified. “It’s already a long-standing policy of the Vatican not to offend the Chinese government.”   Source

We, in the UK, are marching towards totalitarian government;  reflect on how quickly – almost overnight –  the populations of the four nations fell into line, unquestioningly obeying the Government’s restrictions on our civil and religious liberties, and all in the name of a virus which is harmless to the majority of those who become infected.   So, it doesn’t seem beyond the realm of possibility that we will – perhaps very soon – face the kind of further intrusion into our religious liberty that is normal in China.  For us, of course, it would be “the new normal” – like being “masked up” in shops and on public transport. Indefinitely. That’s how the “new normal” becomes …well… normal.  Permanent.

If, therefore, we find the screws on our religious freedom tightening further, all as part of the “new normal”, where would we look for help? Clearly not the Vatican, not under the present pontiff.  And the ongoing co-operation of the clergy with the Government’s control of the Church suggests that the laity can go whistle if we expect any fightback from that quarter.  Or is this a worry too far?  Conspiracy theory territory?    It is happening in China, all right, but here? Never. But remember, at one time the only people we saw on our TV screens wearing face masks were Chinese people living in… Communist China.  Just a thought…

Martin Blackshaw (aka blogger, Athanasius) writes…

Given that the Covid-19 crisis and lockdown are demonstrably fabricated, constitutionally unprecedented, counter-cultural, globally oppressive, repressive, suppressive and depressive, it was only natural that Catholics should look to the Church, in her clergy, to raise the voice of moral objection and resistance.

What we have witnessed instead, with no little incredulity and scandal, is a clergy which has largely complied silently and submissively with unjust government legislation; first in suppressing the Mass and the Sacraments for 4 months, and now with Church re-opening rules that are, frankly, an affront to Almighty God and a violation of conscience for so many Catholics.

Surely this shocking clerical capitulation to abusive civil authority renders a good many bishops and priests worthy of that Gospel condemnation of Our Lord: “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for you yourselves do not enter in and those that are going in, you suffer not to enter…” (Matthew 23, 13).

Before expanding further on this great betrayal of our times, it is first necessary to recap on some very basic, easily obtainable, facts about Covid-19.

Fact 1. This virus has never been correctly isolated and identified using the gold standard method of science, namely, ‘Koch’s Postulates’. Rather, world governments have simply accepted the flawed PCR science of Communist China, a notoriously unreliable method that renders all subsequent human testing suspect and inadmissible.

Fact 2. 99.7% of the global population is relatively unaffected by this virus. Of the remaining 0.3% of global humanity, only a tiny 0.04% of the Scottish population is said to have died with or of it. In other words, we are dealing with a virus that is barely comparable with a bad flu year.

Fact 3. Professor Neil Ferguson, the architect of national lockdown, has since been discredited along with his apocalyptic computer model predicting millions of Covid-19 deaths.

西风vpn好用下载 There is no definitive scientific evidence underpinning the imposition of “social distancing”, face masks and hand sanitisers. Quite the contrary, “social distancing” was plagiarised from a hypothesis written many years ago by a college student and face masks have been shown to be more dangerous than helpful to health.

Fact 5. National quarantine of the healthy as well as the sick during a viral outbreak is unprecedented in world history, it runs contrary to human reason and sound governance.

西风vpn好用下载Secular authorities are subordinate to the authority of the Church, not the other way around. Hence any State law that declares the public cessation of holy Mass under any pretext offends against the divine law, as do clergy who obey men rather than God.

Suffice it to say that by these few facts, and there are many others, we can easily determine the two elements necessary to render the present imposition of State Covid legislation null and void in respect to both the Church and society. These are that the legislation is irrational and contrary to the eternal law.

Regarding the eternal law, the Third Commandment of the Decalogue obliges all under pain of mortal sin to keep holy the Sabbath day. The Church teaches that the fulfilment of this obligation consists primarily, though not exclusively, in assisting at Holy Mass on Sundays and Holy Days.

Throughout history the Church has witnessed many plagues and viruses, some with a devastating cost in human lives that makes Covid-19 look like a case of the sniffles.

To give just a few examples from antiquity through the middle ages up to more modern times: The Antonine plague of A.D.165 is estimated to have killed around 5 million people throughout the Roman empire. The plague of Cyprian (A.D.280), so-called after St. Cyprian, Bishop of Carthage, who thought it the end of the world, was killing 5000 people a day at its height in Rome. The plague of Justinian (A.D. 541), named after the Byzantine emperor of the time, is estimated to have killed up to 10% of the world’s population. The Black Death of 1346 is said to have wiped out half the population of Europe. The Cocoliztli epidemic of 1545 killed 15 million inhabitants of Mexico and Central America. The Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 is estimated to have killed 100 million worldwide.

For brevity’s sake I have left out numerous lesser historical plagues whose death tolls have varied from around 100, 000 to 1 million, against which latter number Covid-19 does not even compare.

Suffice it to say that through the worst plagues in history all Churches remained open without restriction while priests ministered bravely to their faithful, including the sick and the dying, filled with supernatural faith and divine charity. Indeed, it is recorded in antiquity that the terrified pagans marvelled at the selfless charity of the Christians during times of plague.

With this in mind we come to a comparison with today’s clergy, not to mention a very large number of faithful, who, having approved the lockdown 西风vpn好用下载of the House of God for 4 months, now humiliate the Church further with a sanitised faith that is a parody of Catholicism and a mockery of the spirit of the early Christians and holy martyrs.

Against this appalling capitulation in the face of evil, we read in the 1921 edition of Spirago-Clarke’s Imprimatured “The Catechism Explained”: “The Church is, in its own department, absolutely independent of the State, for Christ left the teaching and government of His Church to the Apostles and their successors, not to any temporal sovereign. Hence the State has no claim to dictate to Christians what they are to believe and reject, nor to instruct priests what they are to preach, nor how and when they are to give the sacraments, say Mass, etc. Such interference has always been resented by the Church…”

Pope John XXIII expanded on this teaching, writing: “laws and decrees passed in contravention of the moral order, and hence of the divine will, can have no binding force in conscience, since “it is right to obey God rather than men.”…As St. Thomas teaches, “In regard to the second proposition, 內外貫通 Windows 7下架設VPN雙向通道 - 國際在線:對於Windows 7用戶來說,VPN的使用可能就比較陌生了。那麼,下面編者將指出在Windows 7下,如何建立一個VPN連接,又如何自己建立一個VPN服務器呢。本篇文章將為您分別闡述。 對於希望建立一個VPN連接的用戶,可以通過以下步驟來實現。. “Authority does not derive its moral legitimacy from itself. It must not behave in a despotic manner, but must act for the common good as a moral force based on freedom and a sense of responsibility: A human law has the character of law to the extent that it accords with right reason, and thus derives from the eternal law. Insofar as it falls short of right reason it is said to be an unjust law, and thus has not so much the nature of law as of a kind of violence.” (#1902)

Catholic Social Teaching St. Augustine: “An unjust law is no law at all.” (On Free Choice Of The Will, Book 1, § 5)

Authority is exercised legitimately only when it seeks the common good of the group concerned and if it employs morally licit means to attain it. If rulers were to enact unjust laws or take measures contrary to the moral order, such arrangements would not be binding in conscience. In such a case “authority breaks down completely and results in shameful abuse”. (#1903)

The citizen is obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel. Refusing obedience to civil authorities, when their demands are contrary to those of an upright conscience, finds its justification in the distinction between serving God and serving the political community. “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” “We must obey God rather than men.” (#2242).

In Pope Leo XIII’s June 1881 Encyclical on Government Authority (Diuturnum Illud), we read:

The one only reason which men have for not obeying is when anything is demanded of them which is openly repugnant to the natural or the divine law, 红豆博客:2 天前 · 伟人也讲“东风” “西风 ”。 得饶人处且饶人 物质丰盛时的节俭——《道德经》第五十九 .. 日排行 周排行 月排行 总排行 缘 彩臣乐乐 舞台因有节目而精彩 千叶花开 千叶花开的博客 ...in which the law of nature or the will of God is violated…”

As already clearly illustrated, the Covid-19 crisis is fabricated and the response to it is contrary to human reason, human freedom and the eternal law. Hence bishops, clergy and faithful who have in any way complied with the present evil, not recognising the demonic intelligence behind the initial suppression of the Mass followed by re-opening rules that include forbidding Holy Communion on the tongue, replacing holy water with sanitiser, taping off pews to restrict numbers, leper-like distancing with infantile face masks, including perspex riot guards, a moratorium on kissing statues, lighting votive candles and moving around the church, will certainly not escape the just judgment of God for their faithlessness, having shown themselves more concerned with the health of the mortal body than with the health of the immortal soul.

Laugh while  you may but the points made in the above interview should be sufficient to ensure that the SNP are never again voted into high office. A more authoritarian government does not exist outside of the known totalitarian regimes such as North Korea – a point made in the interview.

Catholics who have voted  for such an obviously Marxist Party in the past, such as the Spokesman for the Scottish Bishops (Peter Kearney), surely need to think again. Or do you disagree?  Maybe you think love of country (i.e. a “nationalist” type of love) is more important that love of God and Morality?

Facts About Masks: Helpful or Hoax?

Comment:

When I’m out and about, I don’t see many “face-coverings”, I see people wearing face masks – and looking very disapprovingly at those of us who refuse to conform to the latest diktat from Government on the Wuhan virus.

We’ve already noted that priests – including the Archbishop of Glasgow – are uncritically accepting the Government rule mandating the wearing of masks/coverings on public transport and in shops/places where social distancing cannot be observed – e.g. churches.  Do any of them check out the facts as some, at least of the laity is doing, on blogs such as this?  Clearly not. The wholly secular, culturally Marxist Government says it, so it must be true. Gimme strength!

Here’s a commentator from the YouTube platform publishing the above video…

This is all playing out, just as planned. Few will know the truth and even fewer will actually try to do anything about it. Just as expected.

Why?  Why are the majority of people so obedient, so compliant?  Are they genuinely unaware of what is really going on here, ignorant of the “bigger picture”?

Note:

Just to remind everyone, this short (3 mins) video was discussed on a previous thread and is very pertinent to this conversation….

It’s almost beyond comprehension that any prelate of the Church, any priest or layperson, could go along with this utter madness.  Even leaving God out of it (which is what they are doing, of course), are they not aware of the information countering the Government’s “science” –  information which reduces the politicians’ claims, and those of their “scientific advisers”,  to nothing more than propaganda?

This madness is not – of course – restricted to Liverpool.  We have our own craziness here in Scotland, as previously discussed.

In conclusion, below is an extract from my editorial in the current, July (Issue # 118) edition of our Catholic Truth newsletter…

“Bad enough, surely, that our bishops are unquestioningly obeying the wholly Godless Governments of the UK in terms of the general lockdown restrictions, but to pander to the craven panic around us by mimicking the same Godlessness in churches, is shameful. How often will contemporary clergy have preached (what we may now dismiss as hollow sermons) about the way Our Lord did not turn from these poor sufferers – and, remember, St Paul taught that Our Lord was like us in all things but sin (Hebrews 4:15). In His humanity, He may have been repulsed and fearful at the sight of these lepers.

Christ’s reported action, however, reveals what is expected of His followers – especially His priests – in such situations. Cowardice isn’t on the list.

Is it possible that priests who truly believe in the Real Presence would place hand sanitizers at the back of churches for use in place of holy water? As one of our bloggers remarked: “What they are doing now they will answer for in eternity before the divine judge. Letter to the Chief Constable, Police Scotland…This is not Communist China!

The following letter, dated 6 July, 2020, was sent to the  Chief Constable, Police Scotland, authored by blogger, Athanasius, who has kindly given permission for it to be published here, for discussion…

Dear Chief Constable,

I understand that as of July 10 the wearing of face masks in shops is to become mandatory by government order, and that Police Scotland is set to back this imposition on civil liberties by means of fines.

Before getting to the point, allow me to appraise you of the truth concerning Covid-19. The best place to begin is with a declaration made by England’s Chief Medical Officer, Sir Chris Whitty, to the media gathered at Downing Street on May 11: “I wish to reiterate that for most people Covid-19 is harmless”.

This declaration coincides perfectly with official Scottish statistics showing that around 2500 Scots from a population of 5.5 million have died subsequent to having tested positive for Covid-19. That relatively small number, of which 50% were deaths in locked down care homes, equates to a mere 0.04% of the population.

Furthermore, since this virus has never been correctly isolated and identified using established scientific method (Koch’s Postulates), British test procedures and results based on flawed Chinese research are clearly untrustworthy. There is a case presently before the English courts in regard to this false science and the subsequent totalitarian legislation resulting from it.

Having spent many hundreds of hours studying the Covid-19 phenomenon, I am now fully convinced  that this Chinese virus has been politicised for the purpose of imposing a new (Communist) totalitarian rule on the free world, the “new normal” as they like to call it.

That the present crisis is manufactured is without question given the aforementioned official statistics and declarations, not to mention that for the first time in decades 40% of acute NHS beds in the UK are empty. It is also evident in such sleight of hand as Post Mortem examinations being largely suspended for the duration along with second-doctor confirmation of cause of death in the interests of conflating numbers.

Further proof of the fraud is in the fact that the World Health Organisation (WHO) is being cited in support of the new rules when that organisation is clearly in China’s pocket, which is why the U.S. has withdrawn funding from it.

You will doubtless be aware that the WHO initially silenced the Covid-19 outbreak at China’s behest and then lied to the world when declaring that it was not a transmittable virus. Months later it announced that face masks were useless, now it says they should be made mandatory. On the basis of such flip-flopping misinformation it is evident that the WHO is not a reliable source upon which governments should legislate.

Now to the point. A few weeks ago you and Nicola Sturgeon gave the nod to a gathering of thousands of anarchists on Glasgow Green. Only a small minority of those present wore face masks and none observed the social distancing rules. By permitting this you set a precedent that can be cited in court as evidence that the new mandate set to come into force on July 10 is contradictory and discriminatory.

(click for protest at Glasgow Green)

It tells us a lot about the ideology of our leaders when citizens are locked in their homes, churches are shut down, dog walkers are spied upon and reported by neighbours etc., while Marxist anarchists in their thousands are accorded free reign!

This is what happens when law enforcement loses its direction and sense of justice becoming instead a politicised “strong arm” of government, in this case the culturally Marxist Scottish Nationalist government which is using Police Scotland to enforce its Constitutionally unprecedented and unlawful suppression of civil liberties.

Enough is enough! This is free democratic Scotland, not Communist China, North Korea or the former Soviet Union. You will not be permitted to impose a Police State in this country under any pretext!

From what I hear in the general population people are sick and tired of this government and its manipulation of the police to bring about its Marxist ends. It has gone on for years in the form of thought policing and now it has been expanded to full blown totalitarianism dictatorship.

When seven police constables respond to a bus driver’s report that a passenger is refusing to wear a face mask, as recently happened to an acquaintance of mine in Paisley, then it is perfectly legitimate for the public to question this new direction of the police, a direction that disgraces the uniform and the noble history of the force in fighting real crime.

For four months now I have been unable to go to work, attend church, go on holiday, have my hair cut or do any of those other things I am entitled to do as a free man of this land. Indeed I don’t even know if I’ll have a job at the end of this, if it ever does end, such is the evil visited upon our nation by this culturally Marxist government with your assistance, destroying our economy and civil liberties with impunity.

I was six years old when the Asian Flu visited the UK in 1968, killing 85,000 people. My entire family was bed ridden and I was the only one untouched by the virus. There was no Nanny State in those days so I was forced to do the shopping, make light meals and feed the baby. Not a single business closed during that pandemic and not a single resident was placed under house arrest. Why? because historically society isolates the sick, not the healthy. You see the present insanity, the counter-cultural subversion?

Since barely half the numbers of the 1968 event have died on this occasion, despite the fiddling of figures, you may rest assured that I will not be wearing a face mask for Nicola Sturgeon, for you or for any other self-appointed dictator. Our troops did not surrender their lives in two world wars to protect freedom and democracy in our nation only for subversives in high places to take it away by stealth.

Covid-19 is hardly the plague upon us, but let me tell you that I would rather face a plague with freedom than live subjugated as an automaton under people like you and Nicola Sturgeon.

I should inform you that I intend to send this letter to the media for publication in the hope of exposing what is really occurring in our society right now. In the meantime, Please find enclosed a proper scientific document exposing the falsehood of face masks.

Comment:

On this day, when the Scottish Government, supported by Police Scotland, seeks to enforce the wearing of face masks / face coverings on the population, we have to wonder if Athanasius is correct.  ARE we heading into a full blown police state?   I spoke to a gentleman yesterday who is a total believer in the lockdown;  when I tried to offer some facts, his hand flew up and he announced that he didn’t want to hear “my theories”.   Then earlier today, a reader spoke to a lady during her shopping trip explaining that this is a very worrying time, with Communist China on the rise… To her astonishment, the woman replied that she had often thought we needed a “wee bit of Communism” in order to make us  appreciate our democratic way of life.  Our fellow-reader did not have the heart to tell  her that there’s no such thing as “a wee bit of Communism”.  You can have a wee bit of chocolate, or a wee bit of a break from blogging, but Communism comes as a package – with totalitarian government and … well…  you know…

西风vpn好用下载

I’ve already congratulated Athanasius on his excellent  letter.  I’m sure you will want to say a few words of thanks, too, for his untiring efforts to do everything possible to alert the authorities to the terrible road down which Scotland (and the wider UK) is heading – unlike the clergy, from the Pope down, whether modernist diocesan clergy or traditional (so-called) priests, all of whom have remained silently complicit throughout this removal of our civil and religious liberties.  Where are their voices now,  in all of this, as the imposition of face-coverings takes this authoritarian governance to a new level?  Where, more to the point, are their consciences?

Share your own thoughts, too, on where this is all going:  are face-masks/coverings here to stay?   I know two people who’ve been shopping today and refused to comply.  I’ll be refusing to comply when I next head for the shops.  Is that the right thing to do?  Is it “spoiling for a fight” (asking for a fine? 😀 )  I don’t think so – I’m not going to pay any fine, and I suspect others who are non-compliant will be non-compliant all the way, as well.   Over to you – share your thoughts…

Media Dishonesty: Interview Cut Short To Hide Truth About Racism/BLM in UK…

Comment:

The above interview followed riots in London at end of June. It took a very different turn to what the interviewer, Adam Boulton, expected. Adam doesn’t hide his views on anything – he was openly anti-Brexit, for example, and it showed throughout his reports and interviews post-referendum result.  Now, he’s, once again, on message, not keen to challenge the popular media line about racism in the UK.  Mr Hurley’s factual account of what is going on is clearly not welcome at Sky News. Is anyone surprised at the way this interview was unceremoniously ended?

The implications are very serious for a media which cannot be trusted.  If we suspect that we are not dealing with truthful reporters and interviewers, respect for journalism is lost.  Poll after poll shows that the public do not trust news outlets – while, at the same time, they seem to (in fact) believe what they are being fed by news outlets, print and broadcasting.  What is going on here?  What is the truth about fake news?

Very importantly, too, consider the fact that the points made by Kevin Hurley apply across society.  He highlights the normalcy of single-parent families; this is  a problem which is not exclusive to “black communities” and  which is having a detrimental effect on both the children raised in these families (generally speaking – obviously, there are exceptions) and in wider society. Again, is anyone surprised at the way this interview was unceremoniously ended? Why do those with media influence want to cover-up the truth about the dire (and often dangerous) state of everyday life in the UK?

Our England Correspondent writes…

西风vpn好用下载In our January 2019 (Issue #109) edition [available to download from our archives on the Newsletter page of our website),  and on this blog here, we published an email exchange between the Editor and an un-named seminarian at the Venerable English College in Rome (VEC) on the subject of the seminarian’s public support for “the gay culture” on social media outlets.

Editor wrote to him expressing concern for the screen shots [and other material] she’d received from a concerned English reader, showing him, for example, ‘liking’ a “gay” club in Bristol on Facebook. The club’s blasphemous name is ‘OMG’ – a common abbreviation for Oh My God – with the ‘g’ showing horns and a halo above…demonic. The seminarian also advertised the fact that he was on a [gay] “Pride” committee, while on Twitter he appears to support “gay marriage”.

Initially, he replied to say that he now accepted the Church’s teaching on homosexuality. At around the same time, a veritable tsunami of 西风vpn好用下载homosexual scandals involving homosexually active seminarians, priests and bishops hit the headlines [click here] and even Pope Francis was quoted as saying, behind closed doors to the Italian Bishops gathered for their plenary assembly, that it was necessary to “put the brakes” on “welcoming too many homosexuals” into seminaries.

Editor, therefore, wrote to the English seminarian again, quoting the Vatican Instruction ‘Concerning the Criteria for the Discernment of Vocations with regard to Persons with Homosexual Tendencies in view of their Admission to the Seminary and to Holy Orders’. She highlighted the following key part of that document: The Church cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders, those who practise homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called “gay culture. [Emphasis added]

Editor now asked the seminarian to reconsider his position, promising to maintain anonymity at that time – hoping that he would realise that proceeding to ordination was the wrong thing to do. When he failed to reply to that request, she wrote to the authorities in the VEC: Monsignor Philip Whitmore, Archdiocese of Westminster, seminary rector; Fr John Flynn, Diocese of Salford, vice-rector; Fr John Metcalfe, Diocese of Hallam, Pastoral Director; Fr James McAuley, Diocese of Portsmouth, Academic Tutor; Fr Anthony Doe, Archdiocese of Westminster, Spiritual Director. This, in order to make sure that they were aware of the line of communication with the seminarian, and to remind them of the Church’s criteria for the discernment of vocations with regards to varying levels of homosexual tendency. No replies were received from any of those concerned. The seminarian – Alexander Balzanella – was later ordained deacon, and is now proceeding towards ordination to the priesthood…

From the website of the Archdiocese of Westminster – 30/08/2019

Bishop Alan Hopes of East Anglia ordained Alexander Balzanella to the diaconate on Sunday 14th July at the Church of Our Lady of Snows Chapel in Villa Palazolla, just outside Rome. Alex is a Westminster seminarian studying at the Venerable English College (VEC) in Rome…(Rome ordination for Deacon Alex, published on the website of the Diocese of Westminster).

Of course, homosexual priests, or those who support “the gay culture” are no longer making headline news anywhere, apparently welcomed as such by hierarchy and laity alike. However, we believe that, in the interests of transparency, for the sake of those few remaining Catholics who seek to avoid such influences over themselves and their children, we are now duty-bound to reveal the identity of the seminarian-now-deacon whom we reported back in 2019 for his public support of the “gay culture”. For senior churchmen, keeping the rules these days seems restricted to keeping the “Covid-19” rules – not the Church’s rules on admission to seminaries and certainly not the rules put in place by God – the Ten Commandments, the moral law.

Contrary, therefore, to what our enemies will claim, identifying this new deacon will not be to his detriment at all. If anything, we can look forward to writing a few lines of introduction to the new Bishop, if not Cardinal, Balzanella. Reflect…   Taken from Catholic Truth newsletter, July 2020, Issue No. 118, p.12

Comment from Editor…

As linked in the introduction above, we previously discussed this scandal in November, 2018 西风vpn好用下载

At that time, I asked bloggers to refrain from speculating as to the identity of the then seminarian, now deacon.  In this conversation, I would ask that the House rule prohibiting personal remarks be honoured, and that we all stick to the key issue which is the flouting, by bishops and senior seminary staff, of the Church’s directive on admission to seminaries: they are expected to  refuse admission to anyone who supports the so-called “gay culture西风vpn好用下载

Alexander Balzanella supported the “gay culture” during his seminary training at the Venerable English College in Rome.  If his superiors did not know about this, which is unlikely, it was drawn to their attention through the Catholic Truth correspondence.  Yet, in defiance of the Church’s prohibition on admitting to seminary and to Holy Orders those known to support the “gay culture”, he was ordained to the diaconate in the Diocese of Westminster.

Manifestly, the hierarchy in Westminster (and the senior seminary staff) do not think it matters whether they ordain deacons and priests who support the “gay culture” (“Pride” events, nightclubs, “gay marriage”, whatever).

Given the above email exchanges in the Case of Alexander Balzanella Vs the Church’s Criteria for the Discernment of Vocations with regard to Persons with Homosexual Tendencies…  it seems clear that no lessons at all have been learned from previous scandals in seminaries, such as those documented in the book Goodbye, Good Men by Michael S. Rose, or following the defrocking of the American Cardinal [now Mr] McCarrick in the USA.

Instead, the homosexualisation of the priesthood continues apace. But, does it really matter?  Is it wrong to highlight the issue?  Would you want to know if your priest/deacon had a history of supporting the “gay culture”? Last but by no means least, would you want to know if your bishop ignored the Church’s criteria for seminary admission and ordination?

English Dissident on “Scotland’s Tinpot Despot”: Face Masks = Muzzles…

西风vpn好用下载

When this madness began, I behaved as if a new and fanatical religion was spreading among us. Be polite and tolerant, I thought. It may be crazy and damaging but in time it will go away.

Now it is clear that a new faith, based on fear of the invisible and quite immune to reason, has all but taken over the country. And it turns out to be one of those faiths that doesn’t have much tolerance for those who don’t share it.

My guess is that about 85 per cent of the population now worship it and will continue to do so. The rest of us are, as each day goes by, a persecuted minority, forced to go along with beliefs we do not hold.

Its evangelists will not leave you and me alone, but constantly seek to force us to join. This is why I make such a fuss about the demand to make us all wear muzzles. This is not about health.

There is simply not enough evidence to compel us to do so. It is an attempt to force submission on Covid unbelievers.

That is why it spreads, despite the absence of any good case for it. In a creepy development, one of the most powerful scientific papers arguing against it, Why Face Masks Don’t Work: A Revealing Review, last week suddenly vanished from its usual place on the internet – I still have a copy and you may read it here

This obsession with telling us how to look, and turning us from normal humans into submissive, mouthless flock animals all decked out in a compulsory uniform is, in my view, part of an unprecedented assault on our personal liberty in general. Stay at home. Stop working. Don’t see your friends or relatives. Submit, submit, submit. Get used to being told what to do.

And we do it…

I think something has gone wrong deep inside the workings of this country. A fire long smouldering below decks has now burst into the open.

Let me share a letter I received from a reader: ‘I run a small coffee shop and when the state decreed, I reopened for takeaway (I was ‘allowed’ also by the local council to use a small area outside my premises for people to sit down and drink their takeaways). Occasionally, when the weather has been bad or someone with an infirmity hasn’t been able to take their drink away, I have let them sit inside.

‘This morning I was visited by the police and warned. I was informed that two complaints had been made against me for serving drinks inside the premises. All for making someone a cup of tea and being human enough to let them have it inside. Last year my business was burgled and trashed and drug dealing was going on in the park that my business overlooks. And what happened then? Absolutely nothing. This isn’t the kind of country that my grandfather fought to preserve.’    End of letter/extracts from Peter Hitchens’ Daily Mail article…

Comment:

I’ve been hearing from more and more people who say they will just not wear masks in shops when Friday 10 July comes around.  I intend to fight it with all my might. I’ll carry a marker pen in case I’m forced to do so, and then I’ll write a message on the material for all to read.  I’m still working on the text, so all non-crude and all西风vpn好用下载 suggestions welcome.  Some of us, then, are trying to fight back.

Yet, when I visited a B & Q store yesterday, I lost count of the number of people, mostly males but also parents and 西风vpn好用下载who were wearing face masks.  Moreover, when my passenger returned with her purchases – two huge bags of compost and a西风vpn好用下载, would you believe,  I asked her in amazement why she didn’t ask one of the men in the store to help her out with the trolley – I’ve always found them helpful and I was  only buying the equivalent of a few paper-clips… Reply:  they’re no longer allowed to do that.  The lad who helped place her tree onto the trolley was looking surreptitiously around, because, he said, he wasn’t even supposed to be doing that.

What’s happening to people?  What’s happening to Scotland? The “social distancing” and the snitching has made us a fearful people, very anti-social, in fact.  And most people, it seems, are prepared to live with this “new normal” (the loss of our civil and religious freedoms, permanently if that’s what the Government decrees).  The question for this discussion, therefore, has to be… are  you?

**********************************************************************************

As a matter of interest…

Peter Hitchens is counter-cultural on other topics, not just “the lockdown”…  If only more public figures/journalists were able to think outside of the mainstream “box”…  Maybe, then, we wouldn’t have to kill babies OR wear face masks…

Young Catholics in Scotland Talk About The Faith: Well… Sort of… Not Really…

西风vpn好用下载

The young people in the above video (published in November, 2018) are just lovely.  Each and every one of them is transparently pleasant and sincere.  They are obviously proud to be Catholics, God bless their tartan socks 😀

Yet, there is no way to gauge the level of their knowledge and understanding of the Faith.  Their assessment of what it’s like to be a young Catholic in Scotland today is generic; there’s no substance to any of their comments.  There can’t be substance, really, because  they’ve not been properly taught the Faith themselves. We know this is the case because the Faith hasn’t been taught faithfully in Catholic schools in Scotland for (literally) generations now.

Is it likely that these very pleasant and sincere youngsters would be qualified to discuss and debate key Catholic dogma and morals?  And if not, how can they really know what it is like to be a young Catholic in Scotland today?   Is it not more accurate to claim that they have experienced what it is like to be a 西风vpn好用下载 young person in Scotland today, albeit from a Catholic background?

Wuhan Virus: Is it immoral to force people to wear masks when they are not safe?

Comment:

Scots are to be forced to wear face masks/coverings when going into shops as from Friday 10 July (it’s already mandatory to wear them on public transport).  Those who fail to comply, will be liable to a £60 fine.

Me, I’d prefer to have my freedom, thank you very much.  I’ve yet to hear any expert claim that wearing a face mask will protect me from becoming infected. Indeed, it may, on the contrary, cause me to become sick.  This because what I am breathing out is trapped in the mask, and will re-enter my body.  No place else to go.

Consistently, over weeks and weeks, we were told (by none other than the World Health Organisation) that wearing masks was pointless for the mass of the population. Now we’re being fined if we don’t wear one on public transport or in shops.  How long before we are forced to wear them all the time – after all, it’s a very simple, easy and visual way for a Government to gauge the obedience, the compliance of its population with the very new normal.

I’m sick, all right.  Not due to any virus but sick of watching a fearful, almost feverish population who don’t know the facts about any of this, from the truth about the infection and death rates, to the uselessness of wearing face masks.  Sick of watching the unthinking compliance.

This pointless fear has affected every part of our lives – our daily travel, shopping, already a chore due to lengthy queues, signposting, (anti)-social distancing and now face masks.   Shockingly this same irrational fear has struck the clergy from the top down, so that we are denied the Sacraments, and God is denied the public worship due to Him.  This cowardly behaviour on the part of priests and bishops will not be easily forgotten by the scandalised laity.

It’s painfully obvious that this is not going to end. The “easing” of restrictions means, in effect, nothing more than a change of restrictions.  Face masks are simply the latest totalitarian measure to control us. Talk of a “second wave” is already all the rage.  The erratic World Health Organisation – in a panic because the economy of the USA shows amazing signs of recovery already – is bleating on with its “warning” of a second wave which means, of course, more lockdowns.

Either we sleep-walk – or, more accurately, continue to march – into permanent authoritarian governance, or we refuse to go along with this charade. Are we really to be criminalized for refusing to wear a face mask?  When it really makes no difference in the matter of safety from the Wuhan virus, and can, on the contrary, cause us to become ill? Isn’t it immoral –  sinful – to risk abusing our bodies in this way?

“Liberate Hong Kong!”, “Oppose the black police,” many shouted, in a reference to corruption. Some held up black placards emblazoned with the message: “Oppose the bad national security law.”

A Twitter user reported that veteran pro-democracy lawmaker Lee Cheuk Yan was dragged down from a podium by police, who also pepper-sprayed dozens of journalists at the scene.

On Wednesday afternoon Hong Kong police made their first arrest since the law came into force. Police said on Twitter that a man was arrested for holding a Hong Kong independence flag in a protest, which it said violated the new law.  Read more here

In the UK parliament today, Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary, was upbraided by the opposition for the British Government’s policy of putting trade with China above vital issues of national security and human rights. Pigeons are coming home to roost now – as they will, not only in the UK but across the world, if politicians and people alike don’t wake up and smell the danger of listening to a word that comes from the evil Chinese Communist Government and its partner in crime, the World Health Organisation.  Note the desperation of the WHO to stop the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, warning of a second wave. Do you hear that noise?  It’s an alarm bell which should be ringing in your head and the heads of anyone with ears to hear, to cite the Gospel (e.g. Matt 11:15).

And what might Pope Francis be thinking now about his scandalous relationship with China, complicit in their evil anti-religion policies.  No question mark there, because it seems clear enough that he supports that regime.  He may issue a superficial expression of “concern” about the “disturbances” on the streets of Hong Kong but not, I suspect, much more.  Whatever, his support for the Chinese Communist regime is a source of monumental scandal.  That is a fact.

What we are witnessing in Hong Kong is chilling.  Not just for the people of Hong Kong, God help them, but for the rest of the world, including the UK.   Or is that thought to be classified as a “conspiracy theory”?

A 4D ultrasound test is a way of reproducing a moving image of your baby inside your womb. The 4D ultrasound uses sound waves to create this moving image. In a 3D ultrasound, you can see a three-dimensional image of your baby. A 4D ultrasound takes this experience to the next level. It creates an effect that is similar to watching a live video. Using this technology, you can see what your baby is doing at that moment inside your womb. In fact, you can even see if your baby is yawning or smiling at that particular moment!

This thread is dedicated to sharing news about pro-life issues.

Where possible, we suggest that bloggers make and respond to calls to action in defence of the unborn child – whether that entails emailing MPs or supporting various vigils etc.

Excommunication: Archbishop Lefebvre & Bishop Pat Buckley… Spot the Difference!

As promised in our July Newsletter – which you can download from our website here –  we are launching a brief discussion on the matter of two prominent 20th century excommunications: that of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, Founder of the Society of St Pius X (SSPX) and Bishop Pat Buckley…  A brief overview of each situation follows:

Archbishop Lefebvre…

A brief account of the history of the SSPX can be read here. One detail, however, should be added to that general account, as it pertains primarily to Archbishop Lefebvre’s involvement in the Coetus Internationalis Patrum. During the Second Vatican Council, an important friendship developed between Marcel Lefebvre and Antonio de Castro Mayer, bishop of Campos (Brazil). These two shared ideas at the various Coetus functions and kept in contact long after the close of the council. They both refused to implement the modernist teachings of Vatican II and in 1983 jointly authored an open letter to the pope lamenting the numerous errors which seemed to infect Rome. When Archbishop Lefebvre consecrated four new bishops in 1988, Bishop de Castro Mayer assisted as co-consecrator.  To read more, click here

From The Remnant website…

Sadly, in the current catastrophe that is the Post-Conciliar Church, some blinded men, instead of joining the fight against the heresy, apostasy, and de facto schism around us, insist on melodramatically condemning, with the most condescending and arrogant invective, the late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. Although any excommunication that was previously levied against the living bishops of the SSPX has long since been remitted, some hardened Neo-Catholics insist that Abp. Lefebvre himself remains perpetually excommunicated, one Neo-Catholic priest even going so far as to presume his damnation. Thus the same Neo-Catholics who tell us that the Church’s perennial teachings on religious liberty, ecumenism, and collegiality are confined to past times and changeable, treat a 1988 letter from a pope as if its infallibility ranked somewhere between Dogma and Holy Writ.

The 1988 letter I am referring to, of course, is John Paul II’s Ecclesia Dei adflictaTwenty-six years later, Neo-Catholics cling to this letter as it represents, in their minds anyway, the one infallible document that ensures Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre can never be rehabilitated or declared a Saint in the future. As usual, the irony of the Neo-Catholics, on the one hand preaching the Mass of Pius V is changeable at the whim of future popes, while on the other hand preaching John Paul II’s excommunication is certainly valid and binding for all time, escapes them entirely.  To read the entire article on The Remnant website, click here

Bishop Pat Buckley…

Later, Fr Buckley was consecrated a bishop, as reported in the Irish Times:

“The rebel cleric, Bishop Pat Buckley, has excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church by being consecrated as a bishop, a Hierarchy spokesman has said.

The church spokesman said the ordination of Bishop Buckley by the Tridentine bishop, Dr Michael Cox, was “valid but unlawful” (under Canon law).”  To read rest of this report click  here

The adjective often used to describe both bishops is “rebel”.  Archbishop Lefebvre is well known for his work to preserve Catholic Tradition against the innovations following Vatican II, while Bishop Buckley is well known for his dissent from Catholic teachings, such as the prohibition on divorce and remarriage.  Archbishop Lefebvre fought to keep the Church within Catholic Tradition, while Bishop Buckley seeks to achieve changes in the Church which will meet the perceived needs of contemporary Catholics living in a “liberal” society.

So, check out the headline – IS there any difference between the two excommunications?
